Opening a new Lagree & Versa Studio? Here are some tips to help boost the success of your new business!

Everyone knows how Lagree & Versa Climber Studios have exploded in the USA. It’s no surprise that health-conscious men and women in Europe want to offer Lagree and Versa classes over here.

There are many decisions to make when opening up a Lagree & Versa Studio – here are a few points to help you get started:

Where will your studio be located? In a city, a town or in a residential area? You should consider what type of clients you want to attract – if you want health-conscious, affluent clients, is your studio located somewhere they are happy to go? Is there enough parking close by? Can your studio appeal to the ‘lunchtime fitness crowd’? How does the character of your proposed location change throughout the day? Can people walking past your studio see the classes inside?

If you’ve found the perfect location – what about the studio itself? Have a think about what facilities you want to offer your clients – what will they want? Will your clients need to change their clothes? Will they need a shower after a class? What about a rest area where your clients can get to know each other? Perhaps you can add nice touches like sauna and light-therapy or even catering to your offer…?

Is there enough space in your studio for the equipment, reception, changing, rest area, sauna, showers, office / storage…? While we’re on the topic – how large will your classes be? Would you like your classes to run consecutively or concurrently (think about revenues from concurrent classes)? How will Lagree & Versa classes work – will the two equipment types be in the same studio, or separate studios (so they don’t interrupt each other)? How seamless will the transition be from Lagree to Versa – will your clients need to walk far between the workout stations? Do you have a reliable contractor who can shape the space to optimize both aesthetic appeal and commercial efficacy? Remember, spacing between machines is important – safety, convenience and aesthetic appeal all need to be considered.

How will your new studio look? Do you want glass ‘shop windows’ so your next client can see how good your classes look? Do you want mirrored walls to help trainees focus upon posture and to create the perception of a larger space? If you have opted for a distinct studio for your VersaClimbers, how will that look? A lot of successful studios in the US have dark Versa studios with dazzling lighting and pumping workout music – could you offer this? Versa studios can get hot and sweaty – are you prepared to install air-conditioning? If you have lots of VersaClimbers, how will you power them all? Lastly, have you considered the idea of having a dedicated/secure entrance to your Versa studio (so your instructors can sub-let the room during your slow periods, for their own classes)?

So, your new studio is shaping up nicely! What about staff (you will need them)? Will they be full-time / part-time employees or contractors? Will they share your passion and vision? Which members of your staff will need training on both Lagree & Versa? Who is going to design / deliver the classes? Could any staff members sub-let the Versa studio to deliver their own classes?

What about the equipment? Are you already familiar with the range of models from Lagree and VersaClimber? How will you purchase the equipment? How many of each equipment type do you need? Is there any way you can pay less than retail for the equipment? When the equipment arrives on the footpath outside your studio, have you considered how you will get the equipment inside safely and assemble it? How familiar are you with installing fitness equipment? How do you get the best advice on maintaining your equipment and…what do you do if there is a problem with a machine?
