1990-1991 Asia Cup 1st ODI Match

Indian and Bangladesh first played their inaugural ODI match during the 1990-1991 Asia Cup tournament at Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh, India. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field first; India scored 314 runs in 50 overs while Bangladesh only managed 186 runs; Indian batsman Navjot Sidhu scored his second ODI century off 109 balls to earn himself the Man of the Match title.

After this match, Indian coach Greg Chappell took steps to replace Ganguly as captain with younger players such as Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag – this proved successful as India won three more matches while their record in final ODI matches remained poor.

Bangladesh has had an eventful journey through the Asia Cup competition and have come close several times to capturing victory. 2024 will provide another opportunity for them to do just that, and their goal should be to improve upon previous performances in the finals. Therefore, in order to be successful they will need to work hard and perform at their best throughout, while paying special attention to areas in which they failed previously in order to prevent repeating previous mistakes and become stronger as a team.
