Mumbai Indians 228-5 (Jonny Bairstow 47, Rohit Sharma 81) beat Gujarat Titans 208-6 (Sai Sudharsan 80)

Mumbai Indians maintained their hopes of reaching the Indian Premier League final by outscoring Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring Eliminator matchup. Mumbai made 228-5, led by Jonny Bairstow’s 47 runs and Rohit Sharma’s 81 as they amassed an early lead; but despite losing wickets regularly during their chase for this score.

Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan shared an important 84-run partnership before Sundar was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah during 16 over. Sudharsan had also been dropped before he hit Hardik Pandya two sixes and fours en route to finish on 208-6 by 18 over.

After an inauspicious start to their season, Mumbai Indians have since reversed course and won seven of their last nine matches thanks to strong performances by Simmons, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan and Harbhajan Singh on bat and ball respectively.

Hardik Pandya leads India as captain, and Mahela Jayawardene acts as their head coach. Former Sri Lanka captain Kieron Pollard serves as their batting coach, while Lasith Malinga and Munaf Patel serve as bowling coaches.

On Monday, Mumbai Indians will meet Rajasthan Royals in their third Eliminator round match-up of 2018. The match will be hosted at Wankhede Stadium. Rajasthan Royals have managed to defeat Mumbai Indians twice already this season; therefore it will be interesting to see how these teams fare this time.

Both teams have met each other several times during IPL playoffs and hold an impressive record against each other, winning three times against each other and losing three. Furthermore, both have met five times during finals where only the winner of one game advances to Super Over.

Mumbai Indians currently hold an edge against Gujarat Titans when it comes to IPL playoff matches as they have more wins under their belt in previous tournaments and a better record at home than their opponents in this phase of competition; eight out of 15 matches played at Wankhede Stadium has already been won by them; they hope this success can continue over time.

Mumbai Indians 155-8 (Will Jacks 53) beat Gujarat Titans 206-6 (Jasprit Bumrah 1-27)

Gujarat Titans edged out Mumbai Indians for an exciting last-ball victory at Wankhede Stadium after rain delays and missed chances left the game on a knife edge. Rahul Tewatia hit a six from the first ball of the last over, while Gerald Coetzee followed it with another straight six, leaving MI needing one from three balls before Hardik Pandya failed to collect throw from midwicket and GT secured their win with this late drama.

Mumbai secured top place in their group and secured direct qualification to South Africa’s Champions League Twenty20 competition despite two defeats on their record, thanks to outstanding batting performances from Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu as well as excellent bowling from Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan. They enjoyed an outstanding season led by these outstanding performers!

Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 228-5 off 50 balls with Rohit Sharma scoring an outstanding 81 off 50 deliveries aided by sixes from Tilak Varma (25 off 11 balls) and Corbin Bosch (12 not out off 9 balls).

Gujarat won the toss and elected to bowl, with Kagiso Rabada sitting out following his reinstatement after serving his ban for taking recreational drugs. They lost opener Shubman Gill early as Trent Boult caught him at slip but Sai Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis made rapid progress, adding 64 runs off 34 balls between them.

Bumrah struck in the 14th over, bowling Sundar between his legs with a yorker ball and then inflicting Sudharsan’s pace with slower deliveries that he attempted to ramp over short fine leg. Both times these deliveries caused Sudharsan problems.

The chase was much less complex, with Mumbai appearing to have full control until run-outs put them under pressure and Sherfane Rutherford and Rohit Sharma having an accidental mixup which ultimately cost them their match.

Gujarat have moved to the top of the table with six wins from eight matches and are assured of hosting their semi-final against Rajasthan Royals at home.

Mumbai currently lie in fourth position with four victories out of eight but could still make play-offs by beating Hyderabad in their final match of the season; fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has taken 12 wickets this competition so far, could play an instrumental part in helping Mumbai reach play-offs for a third consecutive year – they are favourites against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday!

Gujarat Titans 206-6 (Washington Sundar 48) beat Mumbai Indians 228-5 (Rohit Sharma 81)

Mumbai Indians achieved an excellent total despite losing captain Shubman Gill early to Trent Boult. Jonny Bairstow hit an unbeaten 22-ball 47 on his IPL debut while Rohit Sharma hit nine fours and three sixes before finally being dismissed off Prasidh Krishna in 17 overs by hitting two consecutive sixes off Prasidh Krishna’s slower delivery; Tilak Varma made a stunning cameo appearance scoring 25 runs off 11 balls while Hardik Pandya hit 22 not out off 13 balls to help Mumbai post 228-5 in 20 overs.

GT began their reply by losing Washington Sundar in the first over when Sherfane Rutherford trapped him leg before. But Sai Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis quickly set them on their way, sharing an 84-run second wicket stand off 44 balls – with Sudharsan smashing Mitchell Santner for two maximums while Mendis unleashed two maximums against Mohammed Siraj.

But the Titans dropped two critical catches – Gerald Coetzee at deep square-leg off Prasidh Krishna and Kusal Mendis off Mohammed Siraj when he was on 12.

This allowed Mumbai Indians (MI) to build on its momentum thanks to Rohit’s masterful use of sweep against spin – 27 runs in four overs – led by Rohit’s 28 IPL sixes that included seven in four overs with Jasprit Bumrah returning in 14th over to catch Sudharsan trying to hit Gleeson over short fine leg but instead was bowled off straight fastball by Sherfane Rutherford off straight fastball leaving GT in difficult situation.
