Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sealed the orange cap in RCB’s victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final, becoming only the second uncapped player to do so and the first from the 2008 champions. He is 176 runs ahead of Virat Kohli, who is also the highest run-getter in the season. He will be hoping to move up the rankings against MI on Sunday. Jofra Archer of KKR is fifth on the list, with Kagiso Rabada and Anshul Kamboj in sixth and seventh, respectively, although they can go up or down depending on how they perform against SRH. Jos Buttler is eighth, but could move up against MI as well.

The Orange Cap is given to the highest run-scorer of a season in India’s premier franchise league. The award has been won by a variety of batsmen over the years, with legends like Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle winning it multiple times.
Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan leads the table in 2026, while Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen is a close second. The South African could be a strong contender for the award, if he maintains his form throughout the season.
Sanju Samson is another player who has impressed over the last year. He is in good form heading into the season and could prove to be a major threat for the Chennai Super Kings. The former Rajasthan Royals player has a well-rounded batting style and has the ability to play big innings when needed.
Sai Sudharsan
The high-scoring blockbuster between KKR and Gujarat Titans triggered a seismic shift at the peak of the Orange Cap standings. Both the finalist teams’ top three – Gill & Sudharsan, and Buttler – scored heavily, a lot more than would have been expected of them. This has lowered their RR potential for the rest of the season and made them less likely to shine individually.
Virat Kohli again showed off his brilliance with the bat during RCB’s title-winning campaign, scoring 657 runs in 15 matches and finishing just behind Gill and Sai Sudharsan on the run charts. But his record-setting 973-run season in 2016 is still a mark that towers above everyone else.

Virat Kohli is one of the most recognizable figures in Indian cricket. He first took over the captaincy of India’s Test side in 2014 and since then, has transformed it into a force to be reckoned with both at home and overseas. There are very few players who have made as big an impact as Kohli in a relatively short period of time.
He may have scored a few hundred ODI and a few Test centuries, but his biggest weakness (playing the ball pitched outside of his off-stump) has been exploited by the world’s best bowlers at times. Despite this, he is considered as a successor to Sachin and he has a lot of people who look up to him.
His fielding was good against LBGS on a flat Chinnaswamy pitch but he did not get much support from the other batsmen in his team. Heinrich Klaasen moved up to second place while Rajat Patidar also entered the top five after his 89-run effort against LSG. Among the bowlers, Anshul Kamboj and Gujarat Titans spinner Prasidh Krishna are both tied on top with ten wickets each.

The race for the Orange Cap is getting hotter. Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan remains top of the run chart after scoring 657 runs in 15 games, but his team-mate Shubman Gill is not far behind. The SRH winger, Heinrich Klaasen, has also jumped into the third position after his 51-ball 91 against RCB on Friday.
RR batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was unable to add to his tally against RCB and drops down a spot to fourth, but the team’s secondary hitter, Ishan Kishan, has climbed into fifth with his 79-ball 71. The South African ace, who provides depth to the SRH middle order, has compiled 606 runs in 14 innings so far. He is also a potent threat in the powerplay.

With 8661 runs in 267 IPL games, Kohli still towers above everyone else and his record 973-run season in 2016 remains the benchmark. He will aim to claim the trophy for the third time in his illustrious career.

Aside from the prestige that comes with winning an Orange Cap, it also helps open doors for young players who wish to break into the Indian Test team. Last season, Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan won the accolade and earned himself a Test cap.
After a high-octane win over Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) moved up to the top of the points table. It also shifted momentum on the Orange Cap standings, with their primary hitters taking pole position.
SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma share the lead at 618 runs each. Both have been in sensational form for the franchise this year, and their efforts helped them secure a spot at the summit of the leaderboard.
Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru remains in fourth place, continuing to showcase his batting prowess. The Indian skipper has already amassed more than 9,000 IPL runs in his career, and is on track to become the first player to reach 10,000.
