Chennai Super Kings
CHENNAI: It is not often that you see an atmosphere as electric at the MA Chidambaram stadium, but on Friday evening, that was exactly what was happening. Auto rickshaw drivers were hovering over commuters coming out of the Government Estate metro station, asking if they wanted to go to the stadium.
If they said yes, vendors were ready with caps and T-shirts. It was a day for new heroes to be created — ones who would replace the eternal MS Dhoni. It was a chance for players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and others to show their worth and earn the love of CSK fans.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
After 18 years of trophy drought, Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinched the 2025 Indian Premier League title with an emphatic win over Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. The RCB fans turned out in large numbers to celebrate with their heroes. They burst crackers, tore down barricades and even brought out their own customised open-top buses.
However, the celebrations in Bengaluru were largely under control as police patrolled major hotspots to avoid a repeat of the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives last year. RCB are back to defend their crown with Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Tim David and Rajat Patidar among their stars.
Mumbai Indians
The Indian Premier League is the biggest T20 cricket league in the world, with millions of fans following their favorite teams. Whether it’s a mother teaching her toddler team chants or an uncle who hasn’t missed a match since 2008, IPL fans bring more than just cheering to the game: they are the heart of the league.
The most popular IPL teams are Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Each of these teams has a massive fanbase on social media, with more than 15 million followers. They are also well-known for their on-field success. CSK, for example, holds the joint-record of five IPL titles and has one of the most loyal fanbases in the league.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru is another IPL team with a massive fanbase, but they’ve yet to win the title. They have a star-studded roster including Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Jacques Kallis, and Dale Steyn, among others. RCB’s global presence and a strong social media strategy have helped them grow their followers.
They are also known for their strong on-field performances and star players. Their latest season saw them reach the playoffs, which is a great result for a new franchise. They have a lot of young talent, including KL Rahul and Nicholas Poorman.
Mumbai Indians are one of the most popular IPL teams, with more than 18 million followers on social media. They are known for their star-studded lineup, including Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah. In addition, they have a great marketing strategy and are known for their amazing jerseys.
They joined the IPL in 2022 and became a famous team with their debut season. They have a big following on social media and are known for their flamboyant jerseys and vibrant fans.
Their support for the team has increased over time and even though their captaincy changed in 2024, they still have a strong support base. Their fanbase is mostly focused on Rohit Sharma and it’s not uncommon to see a stadium full of fans chanting his name.
Gujarat Titans
The Gujarat Titans have taken the IPL by storm ever since their entry into the league in 2022. They won their first title in their debut season and also reached the finals the following year.
They were one of the best constructed teams of the last cycle and had a great balance between domestic and international talent. Hardik Pandya was their marquee player and the team looked solid on both sides of the field.
However, their decision to trade him away in the auctions was a huge blow to the team. They then drafted well in the mega-auction and added new faces to their squad.
They retained Shubman Gill, who will be keen to make a strong start as captain, and Rashid Khan. They took advantage of the uncapped retention rule and kept two domestic finishers for just a combined 8 crore, which enabled them to save money in the auction to go after bona fide superstars.
With the batting department strengthened by the signings of Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia, Gujarat Titans look to be a force to be reckoned with in the 2024 season. They also have a strong back-up in India fast bowler Mohammed Shami and all-rounder David Miller.
The Titans have a lot to prove in the upcoming season as they aim to strengthen their performance and expand their fan base in the Indian Premier League. When discussing Which Team Has Most Fans In IPL, the Gujarat Titans also deserve attention for their growing popularity and strong support.
The team has been coached by former South Africa batter Gary Kirsten and India pace bowler Ashish Nehra, with matches played at the massive 132,000-seater stadium in Ahmedabad.
Led by captain Shubman Gill and backed by an experienced management team, the Titans continue to build their identity in the competition. Fans can download the Titans FAM app on iOS and Android to access exclusive behind-the-scenes content, live scores, and interactive fan experiences.
