6 mins: Liverpool are off to an impressive start and command possession early in this game. A clever pass from Kostas Tsimikas sets Cody Gakpo free down the left channel before his cross is converted by Diogo Jota into the opening goal for Liverpool.
10 minutes: Palace are forced into a defensive shape but cannot contain Liverpool’s attacking threats. Adam Wharton sends in a cross that Eddie Nketiah met with an emphatic header but the goal was later ruled offside.
15 minutes: Liverpool are pushing hard for another goal as they press to extend their advantage. An altercation breaks out between Nketiah and Jordan Henderson but the referee waves play on.
20 minutes: The home fans are in good voice but are powerless to halt a Liverpool attack that eventually results in a corner kick, which Marc Guehi efficiently clears away with ease.
21 mins: Following an impressive run from Divock Origi, Christian Benteke successfully blocks his shot into the box – showing how Liverpool are dominating midfield battle at this moment in time.
24 minutes: Liverpool have started confidently, holding onto a firm lead against Palace with ease. A series of attacks from them were quickly put off by Alisson with his sharp save.
2. Formations

Diogo Jota should have opened the scoring early, only for his side-footed strike to go just wide of Alisson before forcing him into making an important save before half time.
Following the break, Liverpool continued their pressure and Mo Salah carried the ball into the box and laid it across for Alexis Mac Allister but his shot was turned wide by Tyrick Mitchell. Subsequently, Salah raced through and was brought down under Dean Henderson’s tackle; but no appeals for penalty were entertained by referee Keith Fletcher.
Palace controlled possession post-break but struggled to turn it into real chances. Ismaila Sarr attempted to lob goalkeeper Alisson but his shot was blocked and Eddie Nketiah’s shot disallowed for offside, prompting the Brazilian goalkeeper to make two quick reactions saves as Palace searched for an equaliser before full time arrived.
Vitezslav Jaros makes his Anfield debut with just 15 minutes remaining as Liverpool aims to maintain their unbeaten record. Although only previously involved in one match prior to this one, Jaros has already proven himself an effective backup goalkeeper at Anfield.

The Reds will look to extend their lead atop the Premier League standings with victory against struggling Eagles. Arne Slot made several adjustments after their Champions League loss against Bologna last week; dropping Jefferson Lerma, Kostas Tsimikas and Dominik Szoboszlai for Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool started quickly and established control with a dominant opening period. Diogo Jota broke the deadlock after an accurate pass from Cody Gakpo down the left flank, providing them with an early advantage that enabled them to remain steadfast defenders against any possible threats from their hosts.
Palace tried to come back into the game during the second half, but were unable to find an equalizer. Goalkeeper Alisson had to make some timely saves to deny Ismaila Sarr and Eddie Nketiah of scoring, before eventually having to come off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury after clearing away one ball.
Vitezslav Jaros made his senior debut for Liverpool as their backup goalkeeper due to Alisson’s injury.
5. Final score
After an uneventful first half, Liverpool finally took the lead thanks to Diogo Jota’s strike following some poor Palace defense. He burst through and turned in Cody Gakpo’s cross for his goal.
A goal from Reds striker Mohamed Salah sent shockwaves through the home crowd and put his side ahead, but they could not convert their dominance into another goal. Moments later, though, visitors nearly caught out by counter attack but for Virgil Van Dijk’s brilliant last-gasp clearance that kept the score at 1-0.
Palace was in control for most of the match but still lived dangerously at times and came within inches of scoring an equaliser on several occasions. A series of chances followed just before half time – Endo’s close range effort striking off the bar while Jean-Philippe Mateta narrowly missing with his deft chip just missing its target.
Jota quickly becomes involved shortly after the restart, sending his cross into the Palace box causing chaos and leading to Ismaila Sarr and Jefferson Lerma having efforts cleared off. Palace then make two changes with Will Hughes and Jean-Philippe Mateta coming on, hoping for some attacking momentum to build in this game.
Liverpool were closing in on three points when Alisson was forced off due to what appears to be a hamstring injury and replaced with Vitezslav Jaros in his debut for Liverpool.
Liverpool sought to close the gap on Manchester City and claim their second consecutive win across all competitions, but Crystal Palace scored late and left them at risk of dropping into the bottom three.
