Live updates
At R Premadas Stadium in Colombo, India will play their final ODI Tri-Series match of the Women’s ODI Tri-Series on Tuesday evening. India are looking to close out this series on a high note after they defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets and South Africa by 15 runs in their previous encounters; thus sealing their spot in the final with another win against hosts Sri Lanka.
Teams have taken to batting in a rain-affected game that has been reduced to 39 overs per side. India openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal have found their places, with Pratika Rawal showing good form from Delhi so far.
India made an early breakthrough thanks to Amanjot Kaur’s tight line bowling that forced batsmen into taking risks, before Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma shared three wickets to narrow Sri Lanka’s deficit further. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, run-outs further derailed their chase and left them struggling at 147-7 after 38.1 overs. Hasini Perera top-scored with 30 in 46 balls but none of her colleagues could form significant partnerships that allowed for further progress.
Nilakshika Silva attempts to hit it for six off Rana but can’t elevate the ball enough to clear long-off. Amanjot quickly dives to her right to collect it and throws it back towards the bowling end, saving a potentially costly shot for the visitors.
