Netherlands vs South Africa
South Africa and The Netherlands have met four times throughout cricket history, and South Africa have always come out on top, winning each match 2-0-1-1-1-1. Two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals have taken place between them.

Ottniel Baartman took four wickets as South Africa defeated Netherlands by four wickets at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 4. The Dutch had difficulty scoring runs against South Africa’s bowlers, and even struggled with bat and ball at times during this match-up; but thanks to opener Stephan Myburgh’s 52 and Captain Scott Edwards’ composed batting performance they managed to finish on a respectable 103/9 total.
South Africa’s openers Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen were dismissed by Roelof van der Merwe and Paul van Meekeren for just 31 runs each, as tight bowling and fielding restricted runs from South Africa’s openers Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller until both were dismissed by Logan van Beek for 21 each – giving the Netherlands the edge to pull off a stunning win against an opponent they were expected to beat comfortably.
On Saturday, The Netherlands will look to continue their impressive performance against a depleted Sri Lanka side at their same ground. They currently stand second in their group and must win both remaining matches to advance into the quarter-finals; furthermore, any poor showing from Sri Lanka in their next match may help ensure they gain entry to the knockout stage.
ODI
Dutch team defeated South Africa by four wickets at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday. This marked a first for Netherlands in World Cup events against Test-playing nations; moreover, this victory marked first time that South Africa lost against an outside opponent at any of their events at World Cup.
After an inauspicious start, the Dutch team quickly found its groove and eventually reached 245/8 at the end of their innings. Captain Roelof van der Merwe’s remarkable unbeaten hundred helped his side overcome an initial low total; additionally Jacques Kallis also contributed effectively by hitting 128 runs during this match.
After being sent into bat first, South Africa struggled with their run chase due to an early loss of key players; Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen all fell for single figures scores; however David Miller came to their aid with some enterprising batting; making sure that Proteas weren’t far away from winning line.
Dutch bowlers were not done yet as Anrich Nortje removed Baas de Leede in the tenth over to put an end to South African run chase, before Anrich Nortje took an incredible catch by Colin Ackermann to secure Baas de Leede’s wicket in 17th over and throw into confusion the Proteas captain AB de Villiers who had led them so effectively thus far.

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller then offered some hope for South Africa with a 45-run partnership before both were dismissed by pacer Logan van Beek.
South Africa were in some difficulty with their batting when they lost three wickets within the first powerplay; however, thanks to Miller and Stubbs’ experience and youth respectively they recovered quickly from this early setback. South Africa reached 223 runs in 46.3 overs with Mitchell Santner taking five-wicket haul.

Their last meeting came at the ICC T20 World Cup 2006-2007 when South Africa triumphed by 221 runs thanks to an outstanding innings by Jacques Kallis.
South Africa are favorites to win this match but will need help from their Dutch opponents who proved their mettle against Sri Lanka earlier in the day when they became the first top-level Test-playing nation they defeated at this tournament; thus showing they’re no longer minnows in this tournament.
Test
The Netherlands national cricket team has never defeated South Africa in test match cricket; however, they have enjoyed several victories against them in one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20s (T20s). Additionally, Sri Lanka and Australia have seen off many Dutch bowlers.
Their latest win came against New Zealand on June 3, with Anrich Nortje taking four wickets in four overs – his best performance ever in World Cup match play!
Dutch batsmen had difficulty against New Zealand’s top order, but David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen provided them with a solid platform from which to build. Both players scored over 50 runs each in the partnership that lasted almost 80 balls before Klaasen was removed by Paul van Meekeren in the 19th over with an unexpected low ball that struck off his thigh pad and into his stumps – an event which caused great havoc for their opponent side.
However, the Dutch refused to surrender and reversed course when Scott Edwards and Roelof van der Merwe hit hard with their bats, breaking through the middle order. Van der Merwe was eventually removed in the 27th over after hitting one too hard and hitting his stumps, while Edwards, who appeared out off his first ball faced, was given not out after review and ball tracking confirmed he had made contact with his wicket.
Kagiso Rabada took his first wicket of the day when he bowled Bas de Leede lbw with an off-length delivery that nipped back off length and struck at the top of middle stump, striking his arm just above knee roll and pincerning it with its trajectory.
Though initially not out initially, review and ball tracking confirmed this hit as having struck de Leede on arm just above his knee roll and should have been out initially.
