Chennai Super Kings
The Chennai Super Kings have won a record five IPL titles and have made 10 final appearances, making them one of the most successful teams in IPL history. This success has come mainly from the consistency of the team under the leadership of former India captain MS Dhoni. While Dhoni has been the driving force behind their success, the team also boasts a talented roster that has allowed them to win consistently and to reach the playoffs year after year.
Founded in 2008, the CSK franchise is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and plays home matches at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. The club has won a number of awards and accolades over the years, including the Best Supporting Team in IPL 2015. After serving a two-year ban, CSK returned to the league in 2018 with a new squad and a renewed sense of purpose.

The team has continued to improve, and they have a strong chance of winning their sixth title in 2026.
Rajasthan Royals
The Rajasthan Royals are a professional cricket team from Jaipur, India, that plays in the Indian Premier League. The Royals were founded in 2008 as one of the original eight IPL franchises. They play home matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The Royals have an overall record of 107 wins, 109 losses, and 16 draws in IPL history. They have also qualified for the playoffs on seven occasions, and have won the trophy once, in 2022. They have also won four Super Overs, and are second on the list for the most number of Super Overs won in IPL history.
During the first edition of IPL, the Rajasthan Royals were one of the underdog teams in the tournament, but won the inaugural title by defeating MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the final. Several players contributed to their success, including Shane Warne, Jos Buttler, Yusuf Pathan, and the bowling duo of Sohail Tanvir and James Faulkner.
After winning their first title, the Royals struggled in the following seasons. However, they managed to qualify for the playoffs in 2010 by finishing sixth with 13 points from 14 matches and six wins. They were led by Virender Sehwag and Buttler, who both set IPL records that season.
In 2019, the Royals were led by Ajinkya Rahane, but lost star batsman Steven Smith to a ban in the ball tampering scandal. He was replaced by Heinrich Klaasen. The Royals also failed to sign their big-named players in the mega auction and remained cautious in the transfer window.
In 2024, the Royals made it to the playoffs for the sixth time, beating RCB in the Eliminator but losing to SRH in Qualifier 2. The Royals were captained by Sanju Samson throughout the season, with Riyan Parag taking over as captain for the remainder of the campaign due to an injury to Samson. RR entered the 2025 IPL season with a strong squad, retained Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and bought players like Tim Southee, Karun Nair, Abhishek Nayar, Dhawal Kulkarni, and Ravi Bishnoi through trades and the mega-auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are an Indian Premier League team based in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The team competes in the Indian Premier League, as well as the Pakistan Super League and the Bangladesh Premier League. The KKR play their home matches at Eden Gardens, which is also known as the “High Court End” and the “Club House End”. The KKR were founded in 2012 by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, and they currently have multi-national corporate sponsors Gionee, Vodafone Idea, and Nokia. They smashed 272 runs against the hosts, which included 22 fours and 18 sixes. This was the highest total in a IPL match at the time of writing. The match was also notable for being the first time that two teams have ever scored more than 200 runs in an IPL innings. Moreover, this was the first time that the game had 40 boundaries.
