Together they shared an opening stand of 83 runs and ensured there would be enough reserves in their tank to ensure no slip up occurred too easily.
At a low-scoring game, bowlers were integral for both teams as they struggled to find breakthroughs. Simarjeet Singh and Ravindra Jadeja delivered some good spells during middle overs to keep score moving forward; Jadeja also displayed his batsmanship by scoring 43 runs off 26 balls quickly.
