IND A vs IND C
Sanju Samson scored his 11th first-class century in India B’s Duleep Trophy match against India C at Anantapur’s ACA ADCA Ground on Day 2. The 29-year-old hit 11 fours and three sixes during his 116-ball innings; sharing an opening stand with Ricky Bhui of 216 runs as his team posted 321/6 on Day 2.
IND A was in control as they quickly made progress towards their target of 244, but an outstanding spell from Arshdeep Singh saw them crumble under pressure, leaving them trailing by 257 runs at stumps.
India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran will look to lead his side to their maiden win of the tournament against India C in this encounter, which features both experienced players and rising talents in its batting line-up. This match could prove pivotal as it could determine their final standings within the competition.
Before this matchup between India A and IND C, both teams have made changes to their squads. Prithvi Shaw has been included as Rishabh Pant is given some rest after playing against Bangladesh. IND B vs IND D
Abhimanyu Easwaran’s second Duleep Trophy hundred helped India B to battle back against India C, but ultimately fell victim to an emphatic loss. The fifth match of this tournament will take place at Anantapur ACA ADCA Ground on Sunday at 09:30 AM with live broadcast available through Jio TV and Sports 18 Network channels.
Ishan Kishan was in fine batting form for India C as they raced to 257-5 against India D in their first innings. Kishan showed great maturity with his bat, striking two 100+ partnerships – with Tilak Verma and Shams Mulani respectively – that contributed significantly.
But the game quickly turned one-sided when Indian spinners secured the wickets of Abhimanyu Easwaran’s team with their spin bowling skills. Ajay Tyagi (4/57), Mohit Avasthi (2/63) and Navdeep Saini (3/59) all bowled tightly to prevent India D from scoring quickly.
Yash Dubey was run out by a sharp delivery from Mulani bowled from around the wicket with an ideal drift that saw his right-hander nick it behind to Akash Sengupta at midwicket and Akash Sengupta take an excellent catch at midwicket. Dubey and Ricky Bhui had previously combined for 108 runs between them for the second wicket before Dubey was run out, ending their partnership. Now Ricky Bhui has one strike remaining to build another substantial partnership.
Manav Suthar became the next victim, missing out on a big six towards long on off Mukesh Kumar due to getting an edge off the ball and missing it by an inch or two. Bhui looked comfortable in his crease alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad and both are looking to form an aggressive partnership that may become massive.
Bhui struck an early boundary off his third ball when he attempted to drive off a half tracker that stayed low and hit his shoulder instead of hitting out for four runs. On four more deliveries he denied one single which brought them up to drinks break with 488 still well out of reach. It seems the pitch may have made this target difficult to attain due to short deliveries being difficult for batsmen to respond to as bouncers have stayed low forcing batters to duck under them.
IND C vs IND D
India C and India B continued their Duleep Trophy match in Anantapur on Day 2, and Abhimanyu Easwaran produced some thrilling cricket, hitting an unbeaten century that put his side into a strong position at the end of Session One. Easwaran completed his innings unbeaten on 157 (262b, 12×4, 2×6) runs to put them ahead after just 30 overs of play were completed in Session I.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also reached half-century for India C, hitting sixes over extra cover on his way. Sanju Samson followed suit, also making fifty as they contributed towards India C posting 216-7 at day’s end.
Mukesh Kumar broke Indrajith’s hopes of reaching 100 as he bowled him in the opening over of the morning session. Prior to this incident, Indrajith played an impressive knock of 103 which propelled India B towards an impressive total of 332. Indrajith hit 11 fours and two sixes during his innings – helping India B post an outstanding total.
India D’s innings started slowly and was mostly composed of dot balls; however, after lunch break their momentum began to pick up significantly. When Indrajith was hit by a bouncer he experienced some pain which required him to get massaged on his calf before being allowed back out onto the pitch to bat again.
Yash Dubey became the first wicket to fall when he holed out to Ravindra Jadeja at long off, hoping to flick the ball backwards point but instead got an edge. Shortly afterwards Mukesh Kumar castled Sai Sudharsan back into hut for another dismissal.
India D were dealt a blow as Ravindra Jadeja took the catch in his right hand to remove lower order batsman Yash Dubey, while Navdeep Saini removed Jagadeesan and Akash Sengupta to leave them struggling on 170-4.
India D’s middle order has rallied despite early setbacks to put them just two wickets from an incredible win. Parag and Shashwat Rawat have been pivotal forces for India D, sharing a 100-run partnership that helped their side close in on an overwhelming lead. Parag made an outstanding fifty in this tournament and looks poised for another big one; Shashwat and Parag are closing in on 200 runs between them.
