Arnos Vale Stadium has hosted three T20I matches so far at this picturesque venue – all low scoring affairs with no Windies wins in attendance while Australia have claimed 12 of 13 T20I wins on their travels!
Renshaw and Green have been added to Australia’s Test squad ahead of the upcoming series, while Shimron Hetmyer will not travel on the West Indies white-ball tour. These squad changes could have a major impact on the upcoming Australian Men’s Cricket Team Vs West Indies Cricket Team Match Scorecard, with Australia strengthening their batting depth and the West Indies missing an experienced power-hitter in limited-overs cricket.

T20Is
West Indies will look to better their T20I record against Australia when they play five matches across three cities this month. They currently stand third in world rankings and will hope that playing more T20 matches could increase their chances of qualifying for next year’s T20 World Cup tournament in India and Sri Lanka.
Windies will be strengthened by the return of senior players Darren Sammy and Daren Powell, expected to provide stability in batting while Shai Hope and Roston Chase provide firepower at either end. The series starts Friday in Kingston at Sabina Park where hosts will bat first.
Australia’s bowlers have proven a formidable combination in the past. But Australia should expect some push back from Windies top-order batsmen. Shemaine Campbelle and Deandra Dottin have been impressive, with Campbelle close to becoming just the third female player ever to reach 3,000 runs for Windies in T20Is.
Australia will take full advantage of a West Indies batting line-up weakened by injury and missing their star all-rounder Jason Holder, who missed both T20Is against South Africa due to a hamstring issue last month.
Jediah Blades will make her T20I debut and has already impressed during West Indies Breakout League competition. Australia have included several young players into their squad including wicketkeeper-batsman Mitch Marsh who will make his T20I bow.
Sabina Park will require the Windies to make an impressive opening to their innings at Sabina, starting with Brandon King and Shai Hope opening partnership that resulted in 32 runs scored in powerplay period before Ben Dwarshuis struck with three wickets off four balls to reduce momentum.
Glenn Maxwell has been in superb form this season and will look to score his fifth international T20 hundred against the West Indies on Wednesday night. Already matching Rohit Sharma’s record of T20I hundreds for Australia (four), Maxwell could surpass him before the season is out.

Tests
On day two, the West Indies had much to be proud of – especially their ability to maintain what many believed would be an insurmountable lead – but as the match progressed it became apparent they weren’t quite as proficient at one of cricket’s basic skills: catching.
Before play on day three began, their host broadcaster displayed a graphic showing some of the worst catching teams since 2023 with slip and gully, only managing 65.6 per cent success at slip/gully respectively and this became clear as they stumbled towards defeat.
Travis Head’s gift of an edge to second slip off Alzarri Joseph’s bowling in the fourth over of the afternoon session could have been decisive; yet instead he continued scoring runs as Australia cruised to an emphatic 159-run victory.
Josh Hazlewood dominated the remainder of the match with his outstanding bowling performance at Kensington Oval. At 34-years-old he was virtually unplayable on an unpredictable pitch – his five-over second spell brought back memories of legendary cricketers such as Bradman. Support from Mitch Starc and Pat Cummins were welcome additions, but Hazlewood stole the show.
ODIs
After losing their first two ODIs, the West Indies tried to turn things around. But they missed an excellent opportunity in Sydney’s final match when their top three batsmen left cheaply while Hope and Carty kept scoring steadily but without enough intensity or application.
Australia won the toss and elected to field, bowling well in the first half with Riley Meredith and Ben McDermott making their ODI debuts. Unfortunately, however, Windies struggled with bat and were eventually dismissed for 259. Australia set themselves a revised target of 257 runs in 49 overs which they comfortably met.
Australia’s Jason Behrendorff and Brendan Taylor excelled with bat and ball alike, while spinners contributed wickets as well. Dan Christian and Ashton Turner made significant contributions with both bat and ball; also, Tagenarine Chanderpaul was in his debut tour to the Windies; Marcus Stoinis’ injury forced him out of both Test and T20I series, replaced by Darren Brooks who caused further reorganization among Australia’s squad with Dan Christian joining white-ball tour duties while Corey Coleman returned after time spent playing with Glamorgan.
T20I series
Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) are an increasingly popular format of limited-overs cricket played between international teams. Under a set of rules that dictate delivery/ball ratio and powerplay requirements, this form is now commonly played domestically as well as at many of the world’s premier cricketing nations.
On 25 January 2024, Australia won their opening test match of the series at Brisbane’s The Gabba stadium by an innings margin of 113 runs, led by Aaron Finch who scored an unbeaten 109. Justin Greaves and Kavem Hodge made their Test debuts and were both featured prominently throughout. It was an intense game with both sides hitting over 400 runs but eventually Australia managed to stop run scoring nearing the end of each innings with some smart field placement.
Australia announced an unchanged squad for the remainder of this series, with Travis Head being absent due to injury. Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott from Big Bash should fill in those spots – both are expected to play in Sydney Cricket Ground’s second Twenty-20 International on 27 July.
West Indies team will feature both experienced and up-and-coming talent such as Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry. Hayley Matthews will play an essential part in their batting line-up after recently returning from shoulder surgery. She will look to add to her impressive record against Australia in T20Is, scoring no more than 14 runs against them in any T20I innings.
In addition, young spinners Alisha Carter and Shermaine Williams are set to make their Test debuts alongside experienced duo Jessyeet Sandhu and Shermaine Campbell as part of a formidable bowling lineup. This tour serves both teams well as they prepare for next month’s T20 World Cup tournament in England, while fans eagerly follow every Australian Men’s Cricket Team Vs West Indies Cricket Team Match Scorecard to track player performances and team progress throughout the series.
