India vs. Australia

India and Australia has long been one of the fiercest rivalries in cricket. From gripping Test series battles for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to exhilarating limited-overs matches, India vs Australia matches showcase the spirit of competition while providing unforgettable memories for cricket fans around the globe.

Each generation has left its mark, including iconic names like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Virat Kohli making history along the way.

Australian and Indian cricket teams have met 304 times, with Australia winning 146 and India 114 of those matches respectively. Both nations regularly play one another in ODIs and T20Is; their last meeting came in 2003 ICC World Cup final, won by Australia.

On Saturday in Brisbane’s Gabba a sell-out crowd witnessed rain stop play after only 4.5 overs had been completed before stopping play altogether due to adverse weather. Abhishek Sharma (23) and Shubman Gill (29) had put India into good position before mother Nature intervened!

ODIs

Australia and India’s longstanding cricket rivalry is well known to fans around the globe. Over 150 ODI matches between these teams have taken place between them; India emerging victorious 57 times to Australia’s 84; with Australia emerging victorious by six wickets in 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final. Australia have won 10 tournaments run by International Cricket Council as opposed to just seven for India.

India’s batting was slow to begin as both Kohli and Rohit went early. Rana and Singh, though not prolific run scorers, managed to put up runs.

Short was dropped twice on his way to fifty but, along with Renshaw and Short’s fours, steadied the innings in a late partnership that took the total above 250. Starc and Bartlett kept up pressure from behind the bowling attack.

T20Is

India and Australia share one of the fiercest cricketing rivalries worldwide, especially when it comes to T20Is where both sides often battle hard-fought matches that often turn savagely contested and vicious.

Their competition especially shines bright in ICC tournaments such as ODI World Cups and Champions Trophy events where their rivalry comes out as much more evident. Over 14 T20I matches played, Australia has outwitted India 10 times to their seven.

Twenty20 cricket (abbreviated Twenty20) first began being professionally played in England and Wales in 2003.

This version uses traditional one-day rules but restricts each team to 20 overs per innings with no more than four bowlers allowed per team; it is considered the fastest form of cricket and plays an essential part in nurturing younger cricket players.

International Cricket Council (ICC) regulates this popular cricket format and it has quickly grown in popularity over time, now offering more than 100 Twenty20 Internationals annually as global events. T20Is are watched more frequently outside of ODIs and Test matches.

Not only does the International Cricket Council (ICC), which governs Test-playing nations, have permanent T20I status; 98 associate member nations also hold this privilege allowing them to compete in official internationals and earn rankings points; they may also participate in qualifying tournaments and regional competitions such as Nepal and Netherlands have recently received T20I membership status.

India won its five-match series against Australia 2-1 after victories in Canberra and Hobart, but their final match at Brisbane’s Gabba was washed out due to rain on Thursday.

Opening batsman Abhishek Sharma hit two sixes and fours during a 56-run stand between himself and Shubman Gill before rain stopped play for good – it marked only the second T20I that has had to be abandoned due to inclement weather this year (Cairns on 29 October was cancelled due to weather).

Tests

Test matches are the longest and most traditional form of cricket, featuring two teams of 11 players each taking turns to bat and bowl for multiple days – or innings. One side typically bats first while the other bowls; though there may be rare instances in which both teams become all out before reaching their respective target.

When tossing is won, typically captain chooses whether his/her side bats first or lets the opposition bat first before choosing an opener from either team to take first turn at batting first.

Australia struggled to a modest total of 167-8 as Shubman Gill (46) and early cameos from Abhishek Sharma (28), Shivam Dube (22) and captain Suryakumar Yadav (20) gave India an insurmountable lead. Nathan Ellis (3-21) picked off key wickets of Matt Short (25) and Glenn Maxwell (2) while Axar Patel added late runs that gave India control at Gold Coast Stadium.
