ODIs
ODIs are an extremely popular format of men’s international cricket. An ODI series includes two matches played against each other at two separate venues, usually India and New Zealand; wins can come from either team; however, the one who wins more matches in total will emerge victorious from this contest. In 2026, India will host New Zealand in five ODIs before declaring themselves the victor of this series.
Rohit Sharma became the first player ever to hit 650 sixes in one-day international cricket during India’s 5-1 win against New Zealand in the fifth ODI. Kishan Tomar and Arshdeep Fifer gave India an emphatic 46-run victory margin.
Tests
Test cricket remains a crucial element of New Zealand national team calendar and development, yet is no longer as prominent. Unfortunately, its role has diminished somewhat over time as more tests take place during home seasons of teams; therefore many international cricket teams only play limited tests per year.
There are exceptions, however. India has an exceptional tradition of playing numerous tests during their home season – in 2024-25 they played 142 tests. India are among the top three test-playing nations and stand a great chance at defeating New Zealand in any test series they play against them.
The Test series begins November 12 in Wellington. Both teams will work hard to win each match, with New Zealand having an edge due to its better record against India in ICC tournament knockout matches since 2019. Since 2019, New Zealand and India have drawn two times.
New Zealand are well known for their strong batting prowess; however, their bowling can also be deadly effective. In their semi-final match against England they managed to limit them to only 169 runs thanks in large part to Finn Allen’s amazing 33-ball hundred – becoming the fastest man ever to reach 100 runs this way!
Additionally, they boast an impressive track record in this tournament; winning five out of their eight matches and ranking second globally, they stand a good chance of reaching Ahmedabad for a final showdown against India.
This match promises to be an entertaining battle of two top quality teams with different styles; India focuses more on fast-paced cricket while New Zealand favors longer innings. Both will employ their own strategies in an attempt to take home victory.
T20Is
Twenty20 International (or T20I) cricket is an exciting form of international cricket between two national teams with international status, introduced for play for the first time in 2003 and rapidly adopted by fans and players alike. This unique format places greater emphasis on hitting and scoring, drawing newcomers to cricket.
T20I matches typically last about 1:30hrs and for one side to prevail they must score more runs than their opponent.
Although T20Is may last only an hour and thirty minutes at most, they remain captivating to watch due to both sides trying to gain as many points as possible, leading to high scoring matches with plenty of overs available that could ultimately decide the game’s fate! Plus there can also be exciting super overs that make or break matches!
These high scores were made possible thanks to some truly outstanding batsmen. From Sikandar Raza and Kushal Malla, Sanju Samson, Hazratullah Zazai as well as many others, these exceptional players lit the field ablaze with their outstanding performances – inspiriting both budding cricketers as well as fans alike with these records!
T20 Internationals provide teams with an invaluable opportunity to test the strength of their squad prior to competing at the ICC World Cup, especially when competing against each other at home series.
T20Is are also an ideal platform for rookies to establish themselves; India in particular provides plenty of chances for rookies like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
