PBKS vs SRH
Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got SRH off the mark quickly with an explosive opening stand of 245 runs from PBKS’ 245-run total, as they shared IPL history’s second highest opening stand with 14 boundaries and 10 sixes scored by Abhishek in just 55 balls off just 55 balls – his best ever performance ever! They reached the target with five balls remaining for an easy victory that catapulted them up the table; though they must beat Rajasthan Royals in their next match to avoid falling back down into bottom two finish!
PBKS appeared to be on track for an enormous score after an impressive opening partnership between Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide who put together an outstanding 97 off 55 balls during their powerplay partnership. But Harshal Patel turned things around by picking off Shreyas Iyer and Ian Maxwell within one over, slowing their run-rate considerably while Abhishek Sharma raced towards his maiden IPL century in just 40 deliveries!
Abhishek finally came good late in the season and quickly established himself as one of IPL history’s premier batsmen. After taking two catches to keep PBKS at bay and being dropped on 28 by Yash Thakur off his own bowling, Abhishek quickly turned that missed opportunity into sixes and fours before continuing to smash through SRH with unerring confidence.
Abhishek Sharma fell to Jitesh Sharma off a straight delivery with the score at 207; but his great strike rate helped accelerate SRH through to victory in just 26 overs with Heinrich Klaasen scoring 42 off 26 to ensure top eight status and keep pressure on CSK, MI, and DC for top three places in 2024. It should make for an exciting conclusion of their 2024 campaign!

Highlights
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ended a four-match losing streak against Punjab Kings (PBKS) with an emphatic win at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday evening, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s stunning 141 off 55 balls, which marked only the second highest successful run-chase ever completed in IPL history. Travis Head also scored an outstanding half century, contributing immensely to SRH’s successful chase for victory.
SRH got off to an explosive start thanks to their opening duo of ‘Travi-Shek’ who unleashed three sixes and one four in their opening over, racing to 97 without loss without Harshal Patel being brought in as wicket-keeper, though neither opener managed to pass fifty without incident.
Atharva Taide and Rilee Rossouw both hit sixes to take PBKS to 261/6 in the 12th over, but in their very first over, debutant legspinner Eshan Malinga struck, dismissing Taide with an offcutter before catching him at third man.
Heinrich Klaasen made an outstanding diving catch to bring Shreyas Iyer back into play at long-on, but that wasn’t enough to stop SRH’s momentum. Abhishek reached his century with a boundary off the first ball of the 17th over; when he raised it in celebrations the Orange Army applauded wildly. Abhishek hit five more sixes to finish on 141; this score stands as both Punjab’s highest score ever and third-highest in Hyderabad history! SRH recorded an 8-wicket victory, taking them top of league table for good.
