Indian and England have had an intense rivalry since India gained independence, first meeting for their inaugural Test match shortly thereafter in 1932 at Lord’s shortly after Indian independence.

Rishabh Pant scored his maiden double century as India broke their Birmingham curse, triumphantly winning the third Test at Edgbaston and levelling the series.
India captain Shubman Gill led from the front with 269 runs for India’s total of 587 in their first innings before Harry Brook produced an outstanding 149 run score as hosts struggled in response.
England were struggling at 36-2 at lunch on the fourth day, but Joe Root and Alex Brook were instrumental in England reaching 396 with their incredible ninth-wicket partnership of 195 runs to reach this mark. India responded in impressive fashion thanks to Ravindra Jadeja becoming the fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in away Tests.
India were held to an intense draw by Gill and Jadeja’s batsmanship during the fifth Test at The Oval. Both batsmen scored centuries as India reached 372-6 before England struck back thanks to Root. A leg-before decision given against Jofra Archer followed by reckless dismissals left them needing 374 runs to win with two days still available for them to do so.
England were denied victory as Jadeja and Siraj took three more wickets to leave India needing only 66 runs for victory; however, India lost all four wickets within 36 runs en route to another defeat at Lord’s.
England managed only one draw before defeat in their final test as India recovered from an initial poor start with Kohli playing an exceptional innings to stun England into submission with an amazing innings at Lord’s.
