Smriti Mandhana’s 80-ball 135
Smriti Mandhana smashed her 10th ODI hundred to demonstrate India’s supremacy on Wednesday, as the Women in Blue hammered Ireland by 304 runs at Kotambi Stadium.
She helped the side reach a mammoth total of 435 for five wickets, which was the highest-ever innings in an ODI by an Indian team. Her opening partner Pratika Rawal also made a fifty, and they put on 233 for the first wicket to help the Women in Blue dominate on a difficult day.
Mandhana’s century came off just 70 balls and surpassed Harmanpreet Kaur’s record of an 87-ball century against South Africa last year. She was in her usual destructive form, and smashed sixes off every type of delivery from the Irish bowlers. Her onslaught began in the fifth over when she drove Kelly for a boundary down the ground and then smashed a towering six over long-on to give her side an unassailable lead.
After reaching her ton, Mandhana continued her assault with a four and two more sixes in the next over. She then helped her team to a massive 157-run partnership with Rawal, the most by an Indian pair in women’s cricket. Both players dominated the Irish bowlers, with six of them conceding fifty-plus runs.
Mandhana is also moving closer to the world record for most ODI hundreds in the women’s game. She needs just six more tons to surpass Australia’s Meg Lanning, who has a staggering fifteen ODI centuries to her name. She will look to continue her good run of form when the women’s team take on Australia women in a three-match T20 series in Mumbai later this month. The first match will begin on October 7.
Pratika Rawal’s 156-run opening partnership
In the opener of India’s three-match ODI series against Australia, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal put up an impressive partnership to give their side a strong start.
This was the first time that the pair had partnered for India in an ODI, and they ended up adding 958 runs for the second wicket — the highest partnership in women’s cricket history. The duo has been impressing for the team ever since they made their debut, and this was yet another milestone for them.
While Smriti’s knock was a highlight of the match, Pratika’s innings was equally magnificent. Her 156-ball effort, embellished with 20 fours and a six, saw her surpass Harmanpreet Kaur to become the third highest individual scorer in Women’s ODI cricket. This is also the fastest hundred by an Indian woman in ODIs.
The Delhi girl’s performance was a big boost for the Indian women’s team, which had been struggling in the last few matches. Her performance has not only boosted her career but has also earned her a place in the national squad. She is now one of the frontrunners to replace Harmanpreet Kaur as the team’s regular opening batter.
After a brilliant start to her ODI career, Pratika has not looked back since. She has now scored over 400 runs in her first six innings, which is a huge milestone for any player. She is one of the few players in women’s cricket to have achieved this feat, and her consistent performances have made her a force to be reckoned with.

Smriti Mandhana’s 10hundreds in ODIs
India opener Smriti Mandhana became the first Indian woman to score 10 ODI centuries. She reached the milestone in the third ODI against Ireland on Wednesday. In doing so, she beat compatriot Mithali Raj to take top spot on the list of highest ODI scorers for women in cricket.
Taking over the reins of the innings from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, the dynamic opener scored a scintillating 122 off 124 balls. Her unbeaten knock helped the hosts complete a 233-run chase, securing a 2-1 series victory. It was Mandhana’s eighth ODI century in the year, and her fastest ever in the format.
Mandhana’s blazing hundred also helped India surpass 400 runs in an ODI innings for the first time. They are only the third team in history to do so, after New Zealand and Australia. The latter reached the mark in their ODI against Denmark in 2018, while New Zealand reached it four times in 2018 and 2017.
It was also their joint-highest total in ODIs. Their previous highest total was 412 against Denmark back in 1997. The ICC awarded permanent Test and ODI status to full members Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in April 2021. Two Associate nations, Netherlands and Papua New Guinea were granted ODI status in May 2022.
Smriti Mandhana’s 7sixes
Smriti Mandhana is one of the best batswomen in women’s cricket and she had a stellar year in 2024. She won the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award and racked up 747 runs in 13 innings.
The 28-year-old also scored four centuries in ODIs, which is a stunning feat in itself. Her best performance came in the final against England where she scored a century off just 122 balls. She also made another century in the second ODI against New Zealand.
Mandhana’s brilliant form has helped India clinch the three-match series 2-1. The skipper was instrumental in India hammering over 400 runs in an ODI innings for the first time, as they chased down 314-9 batting first. She played her part well in the run-chase, sharing a 117-run partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur. In the process, she also broke a long-standing record set by Mithali Raj.
Raj amassed 7,805 runs in 232 ODIs between 1999 and 2022, including an unmatched 71 50-plus scores and seven centuries. However, Mandhana broke that record in the third ODI against New Zealand on Tuesday at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
During the match, Mandhana hit seven sixes, which made her the first woman to score eight sixes in a one-day international. This was Mandhana’s eighth ODI hundred and she was a key reason why India were able to reach such a high total in the end.
Mandhana is not only an excellent hitter of the ball but also a very reliable fielder as she has a high percentage of dismissals behind the stumps. She has also not been dismissed for a duck in 62 consecutive innings in the women’s game, which is a massive record for any player.
She has also been one of the top-ranked players in the ICC rankings for Women’s ODI cricket since the start of 2022. In addition, she has been a prolific run-scorer in T20Is over the past few seasons. Her consistent performances continue to strengthen her position in Indian cricket, making her a key player in discussions about the Highest Odi Score In Women’s Cricket and other batting records.
