Amon-Ra St. Brown
Detroit outplayed Baltimore 38-30 on Monday Night Football to secure their victory, thanks to Amon-Ra St. Brown who recorded another solid performance, finishing his season with 117 catches for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns – one of the most reliable fantasy football players and an outstanding late round option for owners drafting him. Jared Goff and the offensive unit struggled at times in the first half, but found their stride in the second. On a fourth and one play they drove downfield on 4th down and converted with a 20-yard pass to St. Brown for first down at Baltimore 21-yard line; shortly thereafter David Montgomery scored on a 31-yard run touchdown run.
Kyle Van Noy and Nnamdi Madubuike were held out, yet Detroit held up well enough along the line of scrimmage to limit damage from those two pass rushers. Additionally, Detroit defense was helped out with several key plays from special teams.
Derrick Henry lost possession of the ball when Aidan Hutchinson punched out in the fourth quarter, leading to yet another fumble for him – his third this season and one that contributed significantly to their fourth-quarter collapse.

Additionally, he leads his team in receptions while coming second in terms of yards per catch. So far this season he has scored three touchdowns and looks poised to set both career highs in terms of receptions and touchdowns.
Penei Sewell and Tate Ratledge excelled on the interior of Detroit’s offensive line, allowing no sacks on quarterback Jared Goff while helping their running game wreak havoc against Baltimore’s defense. The Lions have recently added several high-caliber players, such as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell in 2021 and Aidan Hutchinson in ’22. David Montgomery will present Baltimore’s run defense with its biggest challenge of the season thus far. Montgomery has been one of the standout performers early on and has shown the ability to rack up 224 yards on any given day – potentially providing them with an unstoppable running duo that makes life hard on opponents nightly.
Baltimore’s secondary will need to be on point this week if it hopes to keep pace with an explosive Lions attack. Free-agent signing Chidobe Awuzie will have his work cut out filling run gaps against Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery while anticipating where Goff wants the football pre-snap.

While his blocking skills may not be perfect, they have proven effective in the red zone and show an excellent understanding of passing play – making him an excellent candidate as a sleeper bet this season.
David Montgomery
David Montgomery took advantage of being traded to the Houston Texans by taking full advantage of being designated their starting running back after having previously served in a backup role with Detroit Lions last season. Montgomery ran 12 times for 151 yards and scored two touchdowns on 12 attempts; also recording 13-yard reception for an overall total of 164 scrimmage yards during their win.
His performance is welcome news to Texans fans, but doesn’t indicate any change in Woody Marks’ role on the roster. Montgomery may receive most of the work in the short term but it remains uncertain if he can handle a full workload; Montgomery remains a solid option as an RB2 in redraft leagues and 3 in dynasty formats.
The Detroit Lions scored 90 points over their past two games and need to remain competitive by continuing this pace. Their defense, however, has allowed over 900 yards of total offense over that span and needs to increase its pass rush effectiveness if they want to remain relevant.
Penei Sewell and Tate Ratledge of the Lions’ defensive line earned high grades from Pro Football Focus for their performances against the Rams on defense, controlling the line-of-scrimmage while restricting Rams passing game play. Furthermore, this unit did an exceptional job sacking Jared Goff to record eight pressures overall on that night – an improvement over week one when they only managed five sacks!
